It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a staff member at Elgin Street Public School.  After a courageous battle with cancer, Julie James, died on June 26, 2023.  Julie, an educational assistant up until her medical leave, has been a valued staff member at Elgin Street for the past nine years.     

Julie also spent many years as an educational assistant with the WRDSB at Highland Public School. She was a positive, kind and caring person who loved helping children. 

In honour of Julie the flags at Elgin Street Public School and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast this week.

In consultation with members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team, families are encouraged to discuss the passing of Julie James with your children if you feel it is appropriate.  If any families are concerned about the wellbeing needs of your child and feel they require additional support, please contact the school at 519-622-0611 or email elg@wrdbs.ca
