Dear Elgin Street Families,
Happy New Year! It was great to welcome students back to school last week and kick off 2025. I hope you were able to enjoy spending time together with one another during the winter break. There are few updates that I would like to make you aware of in the coming weeks.
School Council
School Council is having a meeting January 8, 2025. Our school board has been focusing on Structured Literacy for the past two years. This has brought many changes to Literacy instruction in our classrooms. We will be sharing these changes at the January School Council meeting to help families better understand the Language evaluation on the First Term Report Card. Please feel free to join us in the Library or virtually. If you are joining virtually, please email the school to obtain the Google Meet Link.
School Spirit Day
We will be having a sport’s themed school spirit day on January 16, 2025. Students are encouraged to dress up to show off their favourite sport and/or sport’s team. Some dress up ideas for our Eagles:
- Sports jersey or uniform
- Sports team hat
- Favourite team colours
Report Cards
First term report cards will be coming home on February 10, 2025. This report card documents your child’s achievement from September to February. Please be sure to sign and return the small portion of the report card back to the classroom teacher after you have finished reading it.

- Jan 8 – School Council 6:00 pm – Library or Virtual Meeting
- Jan 16 – School Spirit Day – Sports Theme

- Feb 10 – Report Cards go home
- Feb 17 – Family Day
- Feb 28 – Annual Skating Races 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm (more info to come)
- Mar 8-16 – March Break
