Dear Elgin Street Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already into week four of our school year! Our Eagles have been busy doing lots of learning both inside and outside of the school. We have been so fortunate to have many sunny days where our classes have been able to get outside with their teachers. We look forward to continuing this type of learning for as long as the weather cooperates.

Below are some highlights, events and reminders for the next couple of months:

  • Sept 27 – Terry Fox Run
  • Sept 30 – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
  • Oct 2 – Teacher Appreciation Day
  • Oct 4 – Picture Day
  • Oct 9 – School Council – email elg@wrdsb.ca for the Google Link
  • Oct 10 – School Spirit Day – wear your pajamas or comfy clothes
  • Oct 11 – PD Day
  • Oct 14 – Thanksgiving – NO SCHOOL
  • Oct 21 – Book Fair Week
  • Oct 31 – School Spirit Day – wear orange and black or a costume
  • Nov 1 – PD Day

Additional information about Halloween

As was communicated last year, we will be taking the same approach this year for Halloween activities:

  • If a child wears a costume, they will be welcomed at school
  • There will be no parade or school-wide activities that highlight costumes
  • Classes may participate in learning activities, arts and crafts
  • Halloween will be recognized but not centred so that all students feel comfortable coming to school

Elgin Street communicates with our community through the following means:

  1. School Day – all new students are now connected, please call the office if you need help
  2. School Website – elg@wrdsb.ca – please make sure you subscribe (bottom of website)
  3. School Council – elg-schoolcouncil@wrdsb.ca

Regards,

T Scott
